Mortons Happy Hour

I have been planning to take my parents to Morton's for happy hour and we finally made it there last night.  Their happy hour consists of cheap martinis and free flow steak sandwiches.  A lethal combination.  They even had blue cheese stuffed olives much to my moms delight.  We completely over indulged after the two hours there.
Primping my mom before our photo ;)

Singapore Zoo

We were supposed to have breakfast with the Orangutans at the zoo on Charlie's actual birthday but we had to postpone it for later in the week once his spots had cleared.  It was worth the wait.  Charlie was in awe when the Orangutans came out.  Our table was directly in front of them so he had a perfect view from his seat.  It is so well organized, the humans get a lovely buffet breakfast and then you sit and watch the Orangutans eat as well.  What a treat!

After the breakfast we walked around the zoo for a few hours.  My parents were really impressed with how the animals are kept and how pretty the surroundings are.  We even caught the end of a water show with a performing seal. It was a very mild day for Singapore as well which was perfect for walking around.  We all had a lovely morning and enjoyed long naps when we got home.

Charlie Boy is 2!

Can you believe it?! Two!!  Where have the last two years gone?  Charlie decided to wake up bright and early around 6am on his birthday and he broke straight into the presents.  Everything was car themed, which he was so over excited about.  He has been sleeping with one of the cars ever since. It was still dark out when we were opening presents.

Later in the morning we headed out to East Coast to ride bikes and play on the beach.  Charlie loved playing in the sand, and was so exhausted from the early wake up time and all the exciting birthday gifts he passed out mid ride.

That afternoon we sang happy birthday and had our favorite coconut cupcakes.  He was so cute trying to blow out the candle.  You can watch the video below, but we basically had to relight the candle about 4 times because he thought that was so fun. Notice the cars in his hand as well! Obsessed.

I think he really enjoyed the day.  In fact it was the first day in a long time that there were no time outs or tantrums.  Success!

Christmas Eve and Christmas

I just uploaded my camera and have a few Christmas photos worth posting.  Only 2 months late, but whose counting?

Two more pics from Christmas Eve with Justin.

The rest of these are from Christmas Day, out and about and our fabulous dinner!

Guess who is here?!

Nana and Papa arrived late Friday night just in time to celebrate Charlie's birthday that coming Monday.  Unfortunately, while they were en route we discovered that Charlie had hand foot and mouth disease, also known as HFMD.  It is super common with kids here and doesn't last too long, but it is also highly contagious which meant we had to cancel a lot of our plans since Charlie would not be able to be around other kids or go into public until his spots cleared.  Thankfully Charlie was not too bothered by it, and never got any sores in his mouth which are supposed to be the ones that really hurt.  We did however have to cancel his birthday party with all his friends.  Such a bummer.  During the weekend we were still able to go on walks and take Charlie out.  We went down near the airport and watched planes, walked through Fort Canning Park and looked at the new art sculptures that were out, we also cooked a bunch and Papa and Charlie watched Toy Story and Cars several times.

My Valentine

We are not big Valentines Day people, but we do have one tradition and that is Justin cooks!  He always picks a new recipe, which is usually from one of our many Jamie Oliver cookbooks.  This year it was a cauliflower and broccoli cannelloni bake!  It was out of this world yummy.  Here is the recipe if you're interested. There was plenty left over, and I think it may have been better the next day!  I kind of wish Justin cooked these kind of meals more often, but I'll settle for my once a year treat.
