Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a big success. I should have taken more photos! It was the first Thanksgiving in four years that I have spent with my mom which was lovely, and we had a great group of friends to celebrate. I love cooking the turkey and stuffing and all the trimmings, I even made my own dinner rolls this year! We still have so many leftovers, we will be having round 2 for lunch today! And the last ones standing, clearly way past our bedtime with our blood shot eyes!

Updates!

I am a bad bad blogger. Sorry for the absence. Justin was out of town this week and we just seem to be busy busy busy.

1. Last weekend we had a fun night out with my mom friends and everyone's husbands. We took a yacht around Singapore for a few hours. We all brought food and lots of booze. It was kind of a "parents gone wild" kind of night, but so much fun. I love these friends, really it has been so fantastic being apart of this amazing group of women. And thankfully, all the husbands seem to get along too!
2. For those that were concerned of the torture I encountered from Mr. Chow, the bruises are STILL there! Much lighter of course, but I am hoping they are completely gone by the time we go to Thailand next week. My hip unfortunately was still bothering me after the massage and I have not run since, I haven't decided what to do about my run but I think it is safe to say I won't be doing the half marathon in a few weeks.

3. Charlie is allergic to soy as well. Sigh. I gave him edamame beans the other day, he loved them. He ate every last bite, and shortly after broke out in hives similar to what happened with the egg. Not much to do besides avoid soy and egg, and he will be retested in about 6 months. Apparently these things should fade away with age.

4. My mom arrives on Wednesday night!! Just in time for Thanksgiving! We are having another big dinner with 8 guests, and I can not wait. I love cooking for Thanksgiving, it's the real start of the holidays for me.

5. We will be here next Sunday. It can not come soon enough.

6. Charlie now has 6 teeth! Six! Where has my little baby gone?

7. We did another photo shoot last week with the amazing Azlida. I seriously love her work, I think once we leave Singapore we are going to have to come back just to have her take photos of us. This is one of the cutest pics of Charlie to date. She also designed our Christmas cards, they are to die for.
And I think that is a wrap. After last weekends shenanigans and Justin traveling this week we are having a mellow weekend with cooking, walks and lots of swimming. More to come. :)

Sport massage or beaten?

I am training for a half marathon in December. This last week my left hip has become very sore. It started by hurting after my run, then progressed to during the run and the last few days it it a dull pain all day whether I am walking, laying down, sitting etc, and a very bad pain when exercising. After seeking advice from my boot camp instructor, I visited Mr. Chow today for a sport massage. I knew going in this wasn't going to be an hour of relaxing like I prefer my massages, but I don't think I was prepared for the pain I was about to ensue. After telling Mr. Chow my problem, he began to forcefully massage me. I was grunting and clenching my teeth for 58 of the 60 minutes. I could tell throughout the massage he was making progress, he would move my leg into different positions and I could tell the pain in my hip was diminishing. At the end of the longest 60 minutes of my life, he warned me I may have bruises. I wasn't surprised with the force he was using, but I don't think I expected to look so bad. I basically look like I have been beaten to a bloody pulp or hit by a bus. I am walking without hip pain but I can barely walk due to the fact that my thigh and bum are so sore from Mr. Chow's perpetual and painful "massage" strokes. Did I seriously just pay someone to do this to me?!?!

Little Gym

Charlie does Little Gym once a week. Today was a public holiday so daddy joined us.
Melts my heart the way Charlie smiles with Justin. He really loves his dad.

Singapore Zoo

We took Charlie to the zoo for the first time on Sunday. He saw baboons from Ethiopia, a swimming hippo, elephants and much more! It was a fun outing and I look forward to taking Charlie back once he can really appreciate everything.

Gold Class

Saturday night I took Justin to his first Gold Class experience. Gold Class is a fun way to watch movies here and only certain theaters offer it. Basically it is a regular movie theater on steroids. You get chairs that are like a first class airplane, they are soft and big and fully recline with a foot rest and everything. You get a comfy blanket as well! The best part is though you are able to order food and drinks from your seat. You get this little button next to your chair where you can call a waitress at anytime. Amazing. We got a bottle of wine, peanut m&m's (served in a martini glass of course), and popcorn. Seriously classy dinner I know, but such a fun way to go to the movies.

Allergy Test

Today was Charlie's allergy test. They pricked his back 12 times with different allergens such as dust mites, cats, and most importantly egg white and egg yoke. After they pricked him they waited 15 minutes to see what reactions he had. Well I'll let you guess which ones were egg!

Right after the test
15 minutes later
Holy cow this little man is seriously allergic to egg. Poor thing. The tests were done at a clinic that could only tell us to avoid egg until our doctor receives the report and calls us. We will meet with her to discuss how to deal with the situation. He was surprisingly a great patient for the test, the nurse kept telling him what a great baby he was. Thankfully he only cried very briefly on the 9th prick or so. I hate seeing him in pain, but he just breezed through the day like a champ.

Bukit Batok Nature Reserve

We had a family outing to the Bukit Batok nature reserve last weekend. Justin randomly found it, and it was absolutely stunning. We had to do a small trek to get to this beautiful pond surrounded by gorgeous trees. I love these little finds in Singapore, there are truly some spectacular sights here.

Remember when Charlie used to pose for photos, well that is in the past! He wants to do anything but smile at the camera. Most commonly, he does a dive head first! I have to really manhandle the munchkin to get a photo. Isn't he getting so big?!
