Easter Sunday

I started off the day trying to be Suzie homemaker. Justin loves hot cross buns and I decided I would make them from scratch this year instead of buying them. I had never heard of hot cross buns before Justin, this is Wikipedia's definition if you don't know what they are either - A hot cross bun, or cross-bun, is a sweet, yeast-leavened, spiced bun made with currants or raisins, often with candied citrus fruits,marked with a cross on the top. The cross can be made in a variety of ways including: of pastry; flour and water mixture; rice paper; icing; two intersecting cuts. They are traditionally eaten at Easter but in the UK they are now sold all year round.

So my attempt at making these was an absolute disaster. That doesn't happen to me often nowadays, in fact I can't remember the last time I baked something that was inedible but I did it today. I probably wouldn't have cared that much, if it hadn't taken me about 4 hours to make!! So the start of Easter was a big fat fail.

In the afternoon we went over to our friends for a BBQ. Charlie was awake the whole time, and it was a very nice relaxing Sunday.

Smiles

We have got one happy boy on our hands (well, most of the time when he isn't crying the house down)!! Smiles from the moment he is up. I can't wait till he starts laughing!I think he was especially happy in the one below because I let him wear his tool belt around the house.Today we went to a baby clinic to have Charlie measured and weighed. He is 10 1/2 pounds now! And very long (I forget the height) but the midwife said he has the body of a future Calvin Klein model, as if we didn't already know that. He wore his first pair of jeans to the clinic because he wasn't sure if there would be any ladies he needed to impress there! What a big boy."Look at me!"

Games

Justin's favorite game is to get my attention by making some noise while poking Charlie into whatever room I am in. You may have to be here to see it, but let me tell you it is hysterical.Don't worry, Charlie enjoys this game as well.

Whats been going on?

-Sam and Michael were in town all last week. They sadly left Saturday after a fabulous week here. Justin and Michael were able to get some good bonding time in, and Sam and I loved having lots of sissy time. They both loved Charlie (of course!) and each day they both grew more comfortable with handling him and just being around a baby. We cooked, juiced, worked out, went out, walked and did lots of relaxing. One day Sam and I were sitting on the guest bed watching Real Housewives of New York and I was feeding Charlie, and I just looked over at her and smiled. It was perfection. There was nowhere else I wanted to be, my favorite trashy tv program (pathetic I know) my baby and my sister....haha. But seriously, the little moments like that are what I miss most about being away from my sister. Just normal everyday hanging out. I miss her all the time. -I joined a new mother's group. It is 10 women all with babies under 3 months old. We meet every Thursday for a few hours and discuss all sorts of things. It is so reassuring to be around a group of woman all going through the same issues and struggles. We are able to share stories, get advice and just have mom chat. I don't have a lot of "mom" friends so this has been wonderful for me.

-Before Charlie was here, I thought I would want to go back to work in May. That is two weeks away, and it couldn't be further from my mind. The idea of waking up to an alarm or stressing about getting anywhere on time sounds like a nightmare, I am always running late these days. Getting out of the house isn't the same that it used to be. Needless to say, I'll be taking at least another month off to adjust to mommyhood and enjoy Charlie boy.

-I discovered scones last week. Yep, scones! I had never tried them before. I always thought they were hard and crunchy and didn't think that was appetising, but no my friends they are buttery soft delicious clouds of goodness. How have I not tried them sooner?

-I started bootcamp again last night! I found this bootcamp shortly after moving to Singapore almost 4 years ago, and had to stop when I started teaching pilates because I would work during the same hours. I was in the best shape when I was doing it though. We meet twice a week and do all sorts of fun exercises, what I like most is that we workout outside which is so much more fun than doing a gym class inside. I am looking forward to having this back in my life, and I only have a little over 6 weeks till my half marathon so this will help with my stamina.

-Charlie turned two months old last Friday! Where does the time go? Even Charlie couldn't believe it when I told him.

Aunite Sissy is here!

My sister and brother in law arrived yesterday. Charlie was so excited for their arrival, he wanted to wear something real cute for auntie sissy.And here is the first picture of Charlie with his Aunt and Uncle.They are here for the next week!! Justin also got back home yesterday so I am very happy. :)

Cousin Finn

Cousin Finn stayed with us all last week. He stopped in Singapore on his way to London from Australia. He was an excellent house guest and we really enjoyed seeing him, we hadn't seen him since our wedding it Italy.Finn was the youngest guest at our wedding and was really taken under the wing by all the boys and of course the ladies adored him. He actually caught the garter at the reception, which was pretty funny since he had no idea what that meant!

The next round of visitors arrive on Saturday! My sissy and brother in law are coming for a week!!! I can't wait for my sister to meet Charlie.

Date Night

Last night was our first official night out since having Charlie, which by the way was 6 weeks ago yesterday. Crazy! We had Summer, who has been our cleaner for several years, come and watch Charlie. She absolutely loves him, and was excited to babysit him. We really trust her and felt super comfortable going out with her staying at home. Charlie slept the entire time we were gone, and it felt great to be out and about with Justin.

Pillows

We recently discovered that Charlie LOVES pillows. He likes them when he's sleeping or just hanging out. In fact the more the merrier! And this last picture could quite possibly be my favorite photo of Charlie ever, I crack up every time I look at it. He just looks so tiny.
