Birthday Week

Laura and sweet baby Orla were in town over my birthday.  On my actual birthday, Laura's husband and Justin's very good friend Daire flew in from Dubai as a surprise to us girls. It made for such a fun ending to her trip here.  Thankfully the weather was pretty nice for most of their stay, we enjoyed some great nights out and shared plenty of laughs together.  It was so good to see them, it was especially good to meet Orla for the first time. She is such a good little girl, I swear people with girls have it so much easier!

Unfortunately, I didn't take that many pictures.  Laura had a camera with her a lot of the time so I left it to her to snap away. Here are the few I did take.

Carnival Rides

Last week my girlfriend Laura and her daughter Orla were in town from Dubai and we decided to take a water taxi down the river and ended up at Marina Bay Sands.  There was a small carnival going on with little rides for kids. Charlie was so excited to ride the horses and go through a bounce house obstacle course.

I have a video of Charlie, he had his mouth wide open like he couldn't believe it.  It was so precious, for some reason I am having issues uploading videos on here though so I can't post it. But, you could see on his face how cool he thought it was.  He still talks about the horses daily.

Flying Cars!

A few weeks ago we decided to take Charlie on the cable cars over to Sentosa.  He currently loves watching the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which also happens to be one of Justin's all time favorite movies.  Charlie loves dancing and clapping his hands to all the music, but most of all he loves the flying car.  When we took him to the cable cars he thought it was the coolest thing that we were on our very own flying car just like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  Once we got over to Sentosa we took Charlie down the Luge, he got to wear his own helmet and help Daddy steer all the way down.   Needless to say it was a very eventful day that we still talk about all the time. Justin and I are both getting a lot of value out of Charlie being old enough to enjoy these activities with us.

Oh and don't be alarmed by Charlie's face.  He had a few accidents and run ins with friends and unfortunately had three bruises at once on his face.  Two black eyes and a bump and bruise on his forehead.

New York, New York

I LOVE New York.  Actually, after this trip I think I need to live there again.  While I was in California, my brother and I decided to escape to New York for a quick weekend trip.  It was nice to catch up with him one on one all weekend since we haven't seen each other in so long with him being away at college and me not being home last Christmas.  We stayed at my favorite hotel, The Standard, down in the Meat Packing district.  My good friend Lacey lives there too so we had a fun filled weekend filled with plenty of yummy food and booze!

We started the trip right, with some skinny girl margaritas at the airport.
We took a red eye flight and landed around 5am in New York.  Our hotel wouldn't give us a room till noon so we walked the streets for hours.  It actually was a nice time to walk around the city, kind of the quiet before the storm of the day starting.

We took a break in Times Square.

 And then in Central Park.
Finally we checked into our room after breakfast with Lacey.  We had a great view of downtown and the Hudson River.

The Standard has a rooftop bar that was serving these grapefruit frozen gimlets.  Let me tell you these things were AMAZING! I woke up wanting one the next day. It tasted like summer.

Our first night we had dinner at Joseph Leonard where Lacey works.  It was SO yummy.

This pasta was out of this world, truffle, corn and parmesan.

Our second night at the Boom Boom room for pre dinner cocktails.

Then dinner at La Esquina.  My favorite Mexican place that serves this amazing corn!

Our last day we walked the High Line and had a nice brunch with Lacey and her boyfriend.  What a fabulous trip!
