Bangkok

Justin's parents got in to town almost 2 weeks ago.  We had planned to have a nice 2 1/2 weeks in Singapore.  For a week of their trip Thomas's family from Australia, Karin, Penny and Martha were due to visit Singapore as well. A few days before everyone arrived there was a horrible haze over Singapore from fires in Indonesia, the air was at hazardous levels.  We feared the trip would be terrible, especially if no one could go outside, so we made the decision to book a last minute trip and fly everyone to Bangkok.  We spent a week in an AMAZING hotel called the Sukhothai that exceeded any and all expectations that a 5 star hotel could have.  It was a wonderful week!

We traveled in serious numbers on this trip!  Here we are having just arrived in Bangkok.
We had many swims, drinks and meals poolside at the hotel. The grounds of the Sukhothai is quite spacious and quiet and lush.  It was a true oasis smack in the middle of the city.

We went out for family meals almost every night while Charlie slept with a babysitter in the room.
We had an outing with Karin, Penny and Martha to the aquarium in Siam Paragon shopping mall.

We went on a glass bottom boat to see sharks.

Having happy hour drinks in our hotel bar before more drinks at Sirroco.
Here we are at Sirocco, which is a roof top bar some 70 stories high overlooking all of Bangkok.  It is now quite famous from being in the second Hangover movie, but nonetheless is a spectacular venue for anyone's first trip to Bangkok.

We also ventured to the river and took a long boat ride through the canals.  They say Bangkok is the Venice of the East.  Besides the rough waters in the start of the trip, I think everyone enjoyed it including Charlie who was ever so content on Auntie Penny's lap.

We ended the ride at a market where there was loads of food cooking, Penny and Martha were intrigued to see things like fried insects on offer!

Our last delicious Thai meal!

Charlie was pretty sick for a few days having carried over a cold from a few weeks before.  But I have to say he is the best travel companion we could ask for.  He did so well on the plane rides, car rides and meals out. After Bangkok we left the Australian crew and drove out to Hua Hin for a few days at a beach resort. I will post pics of that trip soon.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Happy Daddy Day, as Charlie likes to refer to today as.  This morning we gifted Justin with a cute card and a frame of us holding the letters D-A-D.  I think he appreciated both. We then headed over to our friends house to cook breakfast for the dad's while they enjoyed a few beers. During nap time the dad's then went out for a few more beers, what lucky boys!

Charlie also made a card for Justin at school this week.  It is proudly hanging with his other artwork in his new playroom. An artist in the making, I tell you!
I really need to take some good pics of our new place to post.  I'll attempt it this week.  In the meantime, here is Charlie's new bedroom! It is still missing a few things that need to be hung, but he is really enjoying it so far!

Happy Father's Day my love.  Thank you for choosing me to have kids with. Love you.

Changi Sailing Club

A few weeks ago we spent an afternoon walking around the Changi Sailing Club and then having dinner over looking the water.  It felt like vacation and really was a beautiful setting.  Charlie LOVES boats so this was a perfect location to spend the afternoon.

He points out any boat that moves with such excitement!

Is there anything better then a happy little boy in a muscle top?
