Charlie is ONE!

We spent Charlie's birthday at Tanjong Beach Club with friends. It was a fun afternoon even though the weather was not cooperating with us. Thankfully after lunch it stopped raining long enough for the boys to jump in the pool. He was absolutely pooped after such a fun filled day! I think we will all be sleeping well tonight.

Charlie's bike

Charlies Valentine's Birthday party

Wednesday, the day after Valentine's day, we had playgroup at our house that I hijacked into a birthday party with a Valentine theme for Charlie. His actual birthday is on Saturday. Justin wasn't thrilled that I picked a theme that is not very masculine but who doesn't love a little "love" at a party. And, I made sure everything was red and white, NO pink! However, I had to promise this was the first and last
Valentine's themed birthday for the little one.

I made heart shaped smoked salmon and herb sandwiches, heart shaped tomato and goat cheese tarts, some red pepper and eggplant dip ( in the color scheme ;))! There were heart balloons and cute Valentine gift bags for the kids. I found a pretty good recipe to make Charlie egg less chocolate chip cupcakes with yummy butter cream frosting.

Unfortunately Charlie was not in the best mood that day. I think he was a little overwhelmed after waking up from a nap and having a few people at the apartment already. He had a couple meltdowns. At the end of the party we all sang happy birthday and he had his first cupcake, it was his first actual sweet! He loved it, I think he liked the frosting the most, he gobbled the whole thing up. The group bought Charlie his first bike which is so cute, we have been pushing him around in it since! There was a lot of love that day! I can't believe he is almost one!

Swim Lessons

Charlie started new swim lessons today at AquaDucks. He was doing swim lessons before that were very much like playgroup in the water. Lots of singing and playing, but there was not a lot of learning how to swim. Today at AquaDucks I was SO impressed with the skills they are teaching them at such a young age. They start the class with just dunking the kids and by the end of the class they are actually pushed under water and they momentarily "swim" on their own. Charlie absolutely loved it, he had a smile throughout the whole class. So looking forward to going every week and seeing him progress. The class is in the afternoon but Justin will do the class with Charlie whenever he can. I am very lucky to have a husband that has such a flexible schedule and wants to be so involved with his son.

Happy Valentines Day!

Charlie wishes you a Happy Valentine's day in his monkey pajamas. His expressions these days are priceless. Thank you Auntie Sissy for the pj's.
Traditionally Justin cooks for me on Valentine's. He made an amazing Carbonara for dinner. I have never tried Carbonara pasta before and it did not disappoint. He made a Jamie Oliver recipe that had yellow and green zucchinis in it so you felt like it was a little healthier than the normal dish. It was delicious!By the way, this was me last V day flipping crepes for our crepe Suzette dessert. Little did we know Charlie would grace us with his presence the coming weekend. I was huge. Like, woah.

In need of a smile?

You're welcome. :)

We have a walker!

Charlie can walk! Well assisted, but nonetheless is walking around the house now. He can not steer very well yet but we are working on it.

Justin just got home from two trips away! It feels like it has been FOREVER. It is no joke taking care of a kid on your own, and I have some help, but he is a tiring little fellow these days. And let's face it, it is just more fun with Dus around. We are both so happy to have Daddy back!
